Man Survives Dad’s Family Shooting
When you think of parent’s killing their children, often it is associated with the women who kill their children. I can’t remember one man who killed their children going through a public trial or being given a lot of media coverage. I may be off here, if so please chime in with any men whose cases were highly publicized.
Much of the reason for this I assume however, would be that many of the men who kill their children, also kill the mothers and themselves. You can’t be tried if you aren’t here! I’ve heard of many stories where man kills whole family and then himself due to financial pressures and stress, where as women tend to kill because they are overwhelmed, suffer from mental illness or for an outside relationship.
So one man has actually lived to tell the tale of his father shooting him, his mother, brother and himself. The father must have thought everyone was dead before shooting himself, however even after the paramedics thought he was dead, he was still alive. I can imagine that living through that experience would definitely be a curse and a blessing. The man’s grandparents who later raised him didn’t tell him what had actually happened until he was 12 years old. I imagine due to the trauma of it all, he just didn’t remember it all.
Now the man has his own family and a blog that gives more insight and information concerning his experience. Like he said, once you are shot by your own parent, yet live to tell about it, who in the world would you ever really feel you could trust? However, he has seemed to be able to find comfort in his religion, church and supportive people around him.
Even for the parent’s who don’t commit suicide and are here for their children to ask why they would do such a horrible thing, I can’t imagine there would ever be a reason good enough or even any solace to come from their answer.
