This is the most disturbing post I think I’ve ever written or story I’ve ever heard about. However, while this is the largest amount of babies one mother has killed, it is not the first case of French mother’s killing their infants and disposing of their bodies in the ground or even in their garage. The women seem to be able to hide their pregnancies, deliver them on their own and shortly after, kill them. This lady in particular has two grown adult children.

What makes someone do something like this? It seems killing their young is prevalent among teenage girls, women who feel it is the only way they are going to get a man they are in love with and those who suffer from severe delusions and mental disorders. In this case where these women hide their pregnancies and kill their infants, it is called “pregnancy denial” where the woman either doesn’t want to realize or cannot accept that she is pregnant.

One aspect of this that is so hard to believe is that the husband’s are not aware either. Unlike the husband of this woman who was said to be “dumbstruck” at the revelations, there have been cases where it was the husband who found the bodies and informed police, so it is quite possible these husband’s really have no clue. It just goes to show you how much power denial and our psychological state of being has. I’m still having a hard time wrapping my head around this woman being pregnant 8 additional times to her living children though and her getting away with this that many times.

The more that these events happen, the more that they are being studied and there is a request for these women to be looked at as mentally ill or unstable rather than criminals. I think that is more beneficial for the prevention of these types of things happening in the future, where people can be more educated, look for the signs and get the proper help for these people.
