Kansas City Shuts Down 29 Schools
The recession has caused budget cuts and adults and kids are feeling it everywhere, but especially in some of the places that have been hardest hit, like Kansas in this example who has had to shut down 29 out of their 61 schools.
So with public education becoming less available, what are parent’s supposed to do? I guess parent’s are supposed to quit their jobs if they are lucky enough right now to have one, and stay at home to home school their children or be able to pay for them to attend a private school?
I’m not saying it’s not an okay option with having a tool like the internet and with public education not often being that great and having threats like school shootings, terrorism and strains like the swine flu being passed around, but how is all the financial and physical weight supposed to fall on one set of parent’s? This is definitely a change in society that we aren’t ready for or have the answers to.

As a single mom, home schooling works well for me. I am a house cleaner and work my own hours, even in the evenings if I need too. My kids can do their school work anytime of the day and don’t have to be at school a certain time or picked up at a certain time. I like the flexibility.
