Government Keeps Baby DNA Sample
This was an interesting fact that I read about when a few parent’s sued after learning that their child’s DNA can be stored in government labs indefinitely without their consent. As a parent, you know when you have a child they are tested for all types of diseases through genetic testing, but you don’t really think about how it is done unless your child tests positive for something. This was one couple’s experience after their daughter tested positive for cystic fibrosis.
There become all types of concerns when these diagnosis’ are reported to insurance companies and documented. Will these diagnosis’ be some type of permanent black mark on your child’s record? The DNA often have a name attached to them and are used for scientific research. So what are a parent’s and a babies’ rights in these matters. Currently there are only a few states who have some type of consent forms, otherwise you would basically have to write to your state officials to advise them to destroy your child’s DNA. Hmmmm.

This IS interesting…
