Mom Robs A Bank
It’s not only men these days who are left with the tough obligation to feed their families. Recently a suburban mom of five decided to take matters into her own hands and rob a few banks before getting caught and now being held on $25,000 bond. I also just recently remember Oprah featuring a show on a woman who was held at gun point by a man who was going to rob her due to fear of being unable to take care of his daughter. He however was somehow able to redeem himself due to responding to her pleas and ended up praying with rather than stealing from her.
I’m one of the many parent’s laid off as well out there previous post. However, I’m still one of the fortunates who is able to draw unemployment and cover at least some of my most basic bills. So far after a couple of months of job searching, things still seem bleak, but I just keep on doing the best I can and hoping for the best. My children’s father has lucked out with being able to transfer over to a new company after his old company was just bought out, although many of his co-workers weren’t so lucky and were laid off. While I can’t imagine what someone is thinking when they are driven to the point of aiming a gun at someone, I also can’t imagine the feeling of not being able to support and feed yourself and your children.
It’s not only parent’s feeling the anger and frustration of being unable to find work and support themselves legitimately either. It’s also the college graduates that owe thousands of dollars in student loans and who are still unable to find work, even with great skills and standard education. Most people believe in this system that teaches if you follow the correct path by doing the right thing, going to school and becoming a productive member of society that you will succeed and be able to support yourself and your family. Obviously that system is failing and it’s the same one that people are beginning to aim guns at.
I don’t believe that mom’s and dad’s should start stashing masks and guns in their closets, or mapping out get away plans. Obviously that answer is only going to make your financial problems permanently worse as well as leaving you without the very thing you are claiming to do it for, your children. But I do think that it wouldn’t be such a bad idea for us to begin to re-evaluate being so dependent on a system that obviously has it’s weaknesses and asking ourselves if there are legitimate ways in which we can actually turn these down times into new opportunities for ourselves?
