State Sends Mom Surprise Mail
When I was growing up, there was usually always at least one mom that kept kids before or after school. Apparently there were never enough to cause a big concern however that seems not to be the case in a home in Michigan. The mother received a letter saying that she was violating some type of legislation concerning how many children someone can have in their home at a given time without being a licensed daycare provider.
While I’m sure that there is legal validity to the charge, I have to wonder how the state thinks that by penalizing people or preventing parents from being able to help other parents (especially in such hard economic times) is going to be beneficial to families and therefore the state? What would families do without parents like these that are fortunate enough to be able to stay at home and care for children. And this woman was not providing “day”care services. I have to wonder who made that call to report her and if they will somehow make amendments to these ridiculous rules that can hinder rather than help the people that need it most…parents.
