Internet Dating Concerns Children Of Older Parents

Posted by Laurel on September 24th, 2009

It seems internet dating is not only huge now for younger people, but for the growing number of baby boomers out there that are single as well. There’s still a lot of skepticism when it comes to online dating, so naturally the adult children of these parents would be a little cautious and protective. However some grown children have taken it to a whole different level and hacked into their parents computers or stalked them while on their dates. It reminds me of the movie “Because I Said So” but instead it’s the meddling child rather than parent. The roles can easily get reversed and before you know it, it’s the kid telling the parent what to do.

There may be many reasons that a grown gets overly involved in his or her parent’s love life. It may be that the child doesn’t trust the parent’s judgment for some reason or the parent has given the child too much information. Or it could be just as much about us still being weary of the internet and all of the people that have tried to use it in fraudulent ways.

Either way, online dating has still proved itself to be a successful, convenient and powerful means in which to meet new people and nurture relationships. It’s also a way in which we can help to educate our parents and help give them some fulfillment in their personal lives. There are also background checks and I guess “meet the kids” interviews that can be arranged.
