A few weeks later we rehomed three of them (reducing our cages from three to two) as the whole bunch was too much to look after with a newborn. I suspect this is slightly different though as we didn't get rid of them because they were dangerous or anything (in fact they got on with my son wonderfully from the get-go). We got a dog that someone gave to us while she was pregnant. He turned out to be the best dog with our children and the one my dad kept bugging me to get rid of while I was pregnant because he's a pit. My dogs have all taken it in stride. The pit thinks all newborns are his business and you can be sure that you better be taking care of that baby if she starts crying! They all either stay out of the way or take the antagonization with nothing but patience and a few licks.
