Octuplet Mom In The News

Posted by Laurel on February 6th, 2009

When I heard about this story, I just passed it up because honestly, the having a bizillion children story is a little saturated. I do want to at least see the show with the 18 kids, but then I again, maybe I really don’t.

But after this octuplet story has been played out over & over, I just had to read. So now we are judging this single mom for “selfishly” having these children. I will admit, she is definitely in a world of her own. Anyone who has six children & doesn’t see that already as a large enough family, has to have some blurred vision.

However, she is just an example on an extreme scale that many parents fall into. She happens to be single & do I feel that one person alone can adequately care for double digit children, hell no. But there are many two parent family’s that aren’t caring adequately for children but that is too huge of a problem for us to tackle, so we’ll scrutinize the extreme.

If I had to be truly honest, I would say that anyone that has children is selfish. There is no way anyone would bring another human being into the world we live in without there being some type of selfishness behind it. As a parent, I know my own selfish motives concerning being a parent & any other parent that has biological children would be in denial if they didn’t recognize their own. We often are not properly caring for ourselves adequately, much less the children that are already here in the world.
