No More Tag Football For Me
My oldest is 10 now which means this year when he has football camp, it’ll be contact football. I’m not too thrilled to say the least, but it’s just one of those times where a mother doesn’t have much choice other than to shrug her shoulders and join all the other mom’s out there keeping their fingers crossed that they aren’t going to have to carry their son off the field.
I guess what doesn’t make things any easier, is that Bryce is a complainer. Something always hurts on him, yet he seems perfectly okay with allowing his legs that “hurt” after the game to carry him through another one. At least he’s good at it. I’d hate to have him creamed out there over a sport that he couldn’t even score at.
I’m like, why can’t you play a no contact sport like tennis or even a less aggressive sport like baseball? Nope, nothing but football. Of course most sports have their fair share of injuries minus something like swimming. That sport would be a mom’s dream come true. Maybe I still have time to urge the youngest in that direction?
There are some more dangerous sports like race car driving that would surely keep me up at night. There’s the skateboarding kid that has his own show who’s broken bones multiple times. I think it’s great that these kids are fearless and will do anything for a little bit of joy and glory, but I’m not sure who it’s most painful for, the kid or the mom?
