Refreshing Surprise on I Know My Kids a Star

Posted by Laurel on May 16th, 2008

Not sure how many of you guys out there have been watching I Know My Kids a Star on VH-1 w/Danny…whatever his last name is that is too hard to pronounce or spell, but I just saw the finale today. Why put yourself through all of the weeks of agony with the struggles when you can just watch a show here or there and see everything summed up at the end? :) That way you don’t feel so guilty about being a reality groupie or spending that valuable time that could be doing something much more productive like folding clothes or pursuing your own life dreams and passions!

Anyhoooo! So they have a bunch of kids and their crazy parents all attempting to be the next hottest thing. Another reason I didn’t really follow this show is because I’m perplexed on the whole child star phenomena anyways. I have a beautiful three-year-old daughter that screams child model/star/actress etc. all of the time. But do I really want to put her on that train and drop my life to do it? Never say never, but at this point, no.

So there were some talented kids and all came down to the last two. One who I just knew would win minus the factor that there would be no surprise at the end and the other who was indeed talented, however didn’t seem as talented. So to make an interesting twist at the end, they made a point of saying that talent alone would not be the deciding factor. Then they began to replay previous clips of the parents and how they performed throughout the show. The one with the super talented kid failed, while the other soared. They took the soaring parent with the less talented kid. I thought that was a great way to end the show and actually send a great message to the entertainment industry and all the people knocking on its door. Who says nice people always finish last?!

Great site Laurel. Keep up the good wok!

Thanks Ashley!! Will do :)

I think that making it a personal account on the kids mom was misleading and disappointing. It wasn’t called I know my moms the best person or most optimistic, it was called I know MY KIDS a star. So I wasn’t happy about the results. I felt that Cheyanne was the star there and she was the one who worked hard and deserved the title. Meh.

The only reason I took note of the show & the winner was b/c it was the first time on television that I had seen where the most talented kid didn’t win. Unfortunately a child may have all the talent in the world, but if the parent doesn’t know how to manage it, then the child can end up paying for it in the end like so many of the other child stars that we’ve seen. I can’t say or not whether it was the right decision or not, but it was definitely a different one.
